Sunspots Studios is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 2-6:30 p.m., with Virginia Blood Services.
The first 25 donors will receive a $20 Sunspots’ gift certificate. All donors will also receive additional gifts through Virginia Blood Services.
Virginia Blood Services is the sole provider of blood to the hospitals in our area, including Augusta Health, Rockingham, UVa, Martha Jefferson, and all Richmond area hospitals. Each pint of blood donated saves the lives of three people. Blood is in short supply in our area.
Donating is safe, and the body replaces the blood given within 24 hours. In fact, men who donate blood at least once a year reduce their risk of heart disease by over 50%, and reduce their risk for many types of cancer.
