Sulaimon, Ennis named ACC Players of the Week

Duke sophomore guard Rasheed Sulaimon has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Syracuse’s Tyler Ennis earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

ACC letters - full-colorSulaimon keyed Duke to important ACC wins over Virginia and NC State last week, including the go-ahead 3-point shot in the closing  seconds of the 23rd-ranked Blue Devils’ 69-65 win over the Cavaliers on Monday night. Sulaimon finished the Virginia game with a season-high 21 points,  including four 3s, on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor. The Houston, Texas, native added 13 points in Saturday’s 95-60 win over NC State  for his fifth double-figure scoring outing in his past seven games. Sulaimon added a season-high six assists while playing just 17 minutes against the Wolfpack.

Syracuse’s Ennis earned his third ACC Rookie of the Week honor of the 2013-14 season after also being recognized on Dec. 2 and Dec. 30 . In the second-ranked Orange’s ACC wins at Boston College and against 22nd-ranked Pitt, Ennis averaged 14.0 points 2.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 turnovers and 3.5  and 40 minutes played. The Brampton, Ontario, freshman had 16 points in the 59-54 win over Pitt, included 14 in the second half and six in the last 1:48 of the contest.
