SJHxmas2016KN0011Visitors to Lexington may tour the Stonewall Jackson House during the holiday season, when many area museums are closed.

Weather permitting, the house will be open through New Year’s Eve, except for Christmas Day, when it is closed.  Tours are offered on the hour and half-hour, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with the last tour beginning at 4:30.  The site will also close at 3 p.m. on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Throughout the holiday season, visitors to the site may glimpse Christmas greens and decorations typical of the mid-19th century and learn about how the Jacksons may have observed the season. The museum shop offers books, prints, and a variety of other items perfect for gifts. Selected items will be on sale for 25 percent off during the holiday season.

The Jackson House will close for the winter at 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve, reopening on its regular schedule March 1, 2016.

The house museum is located at 8 E. Washington St. For more information, call 540-464-7704.
