Staunton Senior Center Celebrated with Luncheon

Contributors

ssc-headerOn December 19, forty-five members, staff, and volunteers enjoyed a Christmas luncheon provided by the members and staff of the Staunton Senior Center.

SSC can sure put out a spread!

The luncheon was based around cold items, the entree consisting of pimento cheese, ham, and chicken salad sandwiches artfully created in the kitchen the morning of the luncheon. Many sides and desserts followed in the delicious line up of foods tastefully displayed. Drinks awaited in the Activity Room, and thus all who attended had full plates and bellies!

A member and volunteer had taken it upon themselves to collect donations from the members over the weeks prior to Christmas in order to surprise all staff members with lovingly shopped for items to suit each staffer’s taste. The Program Director honored three of her trusty volunteers with special fleece throws to keep them warm on cold winter evenings. The day was well rounded with music from Teresa Whitesell who played her guitar and sang Christmas music. Of course there had to be a sing-along as SSC members are known for their love for singing! All in all, it was a wonderful day to recognize the season and the specialness of each individual who contributes to make Staunton Senior Center a great place!
