A Staunton man was arrested and charged with domestic assault in an incident reported on Friday.
Hubert Jason Blackwell, 34 of Staunton, has been charged with abduction and malicious wounding and is being held at Middle River Regional Jail.
Deputies with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Augusta Health Emergency Department to speak with the victim of an assault. The 22-year-old female victim reported being involved in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, Blackwell, while they were driving her vehicle.
The victim reported that while she was driving, Blackwell became upset and began to hit her, and slam her head against the passenger side window. Blackwell then allegedly pulled a knife, and threatened to kill the victim. During the altercation the victim received a deep laceration to her right forearm.
While the victim was receiving medical treatment, deputies attempted to contact Blackwell, who was reported to be in the emergency room waiting room. Deputies soon discovered that Blackwell had departed the waiting room, and that he was attempting to leave the area. Blackwell was discovered hiding in a green Ford Explorer, and arrested without incident.
The victim was treated for her laceration and other injuries at Augusta Health, and has been released.
