
The award is named for the former director of the library development and networking division of the Library of Virginia and is given annually by the VPLDA to a Virginia public library director who exhibits an enthusiasm for and a love of libraries as well as a nurturing spirit.
Library directors may nominate one of their peers for the award, and the recipient is chosen by a vote of the association’s members.
Arnold has been the director of the Staunton Public Library since October 1991 and employed by the library for more than 30 years.
