Staunton City Council begins budget review

staunton virginiaCity Manager Steve Owen presented the 2019 fiscal year proposed budget to Staunton City Council during its regular meeting Thursday night, kicking off the budget review process.

Over the next month, the council will meet to examine and discuss the budget in its entirety. The public is welcome to attend budget work sessions and participate in a public hearing on the budget at 7:30 p.m.April 12. The council is scheduled to vote on the budget during its regular meeting on April 26.

A hard copy of the budget can be viewed in the city manager’s office on the third floor of City Hall, 116 W. Beverley Street, or you may view it online.

Meetings to review the budget will occur on the following dates in the Caucus Room at City Hall:

Thursday, April 5*

  • 5:30 p.m., budget work session

Thursday, April 12

  • 5:30 p.m., budget work session during regularly scheduled meeting
  • 7:30 p.m., public hearing on the proposed budget

Thursday, April 19*

  • 5:30 p.m., budget work session

Thursday, April 26

  • 5:30 p.m., budget work session during regularly scheduled meeting
  • 7:30 p.m., consideration of the adoption of the budget

*If these meetings are canceled, they will be announced and noted here in advance.
