State Police arrest Rockingham County man for possession of stolen police property

policeA Rockingham County man has been charged with a felony following an investigation by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Appomattox Field Office.

Wesley A. Baker, 26, of Mt. Crawford, Va., was arrested Wednesday (March 9, 2016) without incident by state police on one felony count of possession of stolen property in excess value of $200. Baker was released on bond.

In February 2015, the Staunton Police Department requested State Police investigate the theft of a piece of equipment belonging to the agency. The investigation led state police to Baker, a former Staunton Police employee, and recovery of the stolen equipment.

The incident remains under investigation.
