stab Boston MarathonSt. Anne’s-Belfield School humanities teacher and cross country coach Andy Beardsley completed the 2018 Boston Marathon, notable for its cold, wet, windy conditions, in a time of 03:40:43 and in doing so was able to check an item off his bucket list: competing with best friend Larsen Klingel.

Klingel lives with cerebral palsy, and has been Beardsley’s friend since they attended fifth grade together in Alaska. Throughout the 26.2 miles, Beardsley pushed Klingel in a wheelchair custom-made by the same manufacturer that produces chairs for Team Hoyt, complete with the School’s name and logo integrated into the design. They were one of eight duo teams competing in the event.

The men qualified together in the 2016 Richmond Marathon, which was only the second time they competed together and with the new wheelchair following the November 2016 Bill Steers Men’s Four Miler in Charlottesville.
