Virginia got back to .500, scoring a pair of goals in a two-minute stretch in the second half to take control, and close out a 3-2 upset of #6 Stanford on the Left Coast on Friday night.

Stanford (7-2-1, 0-2-1 ACC) took a 2-1 lead with a pair of goals in the opening minutes of the second half.

In the 72nd minute, the Cardinal were whistled for a handball in the penalty area, and Marco Dos Santos converted the PK to level the score.

Two minutes later, Sami Oulouheu sent a free kick into the six-yard box that deflected off a Stanford defender and into the back of the net for the game-winning goal for the ‘Hoos (4-4-1, 2-1-0 ACC).

“Any win on the road in the ACC is tough, but this is one of the toughest places to win,” UVA coach George Gelnovatch said. “We did it in a number of ways, taking a lead, conceding, going down and having to respond to that, and then closing out. That’s something we’ve been trying to get better at in some of these games, and today they did it. We’re hoping that that serves as a springboard for the remainder of the season.”
