Shenandoah U. alum Colin Morse earns MiLB promotion

shenandoah universitySix professional appearances has resulted in the first promotion for Shenandoah U. baseball alum Colin Morse.

Morse, a three-time All-ODAC honoree as a pitcher for the Shenandoah University baseball team, has earned a promotion to the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays after making six appearances for the Gulf Coast League Nationals following his selection by the Washington Nationals in the 26th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.

His last appearance, on Sunday versus the GCL Mets, saw the Vienna, Virginia native earn his first win as a professional.

Morse went 3.0 innings of relief in the win, striking out three while allowing one run on one hit and one walk.

Auburn is the short-season Class A affiliate of the Nationals and plays in the NY-Penn League.

Morse’ older brother, Phil Morse ’16, pitched for Auburn in 2016. The elder Morse is currently assigned to Hagerstown (Md.) of the Class A South Atlantic League and has a 2-0 record with 17 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings pitched.
