Quarterback Jameel Sewell is among four UVa. football players who will not be enrolled in school for the 2008 spring semester, the university announced today.
Junior cornerback Chris Cook will also not be enrolled in classes this spring – along with redshirt freshman linebacker Darnell Carter and redshirt freshman wide receiver Chris Dalton.
It would have to be assumed that the enrollment issue could impact on the players’ ability to play in the fall.
Sewell threw for 2,176 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore in his first full season as a starter – and led Virginia to five fourth-quarter comeback wins en route to a 9-4 record overall in 2007.
Freshman Peter Lalich would seem to be in line to earn the starting nod in 2008. Lalich played in eight games – completing 35 of his 61 pass attempts for 321 yards and two touchdowns as a reserve.
