As part of Sentara Health’s commitment to keeping communities safe and increasing access to preventative care, Sentara RMH Medical Center will host a free drive-thru flu vaccination clinic on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon (while supplies last).

The free event is open to adults 18 and older who want to receive a free flu shot from the convenience of their vehicles. The clinics will be held rain or shine, and vaccinations will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Appointments are not required.

Sentara will hold 17 drive-thru flu clinics in 2024 throughout Hampton Roads, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, South Boston, Northern Virginia and northeast North Carolina. Each clinic will be prepared to administer hundreds of flu shots, totaling more than 5,220 flu vaccines across locations. A complete list of drive-thru clinic locations is available online.

Public health experts recommend getting the Influenza vaccine annually as the first and most important step to protect yourself and loved ones from the flu. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, young children, pregnant individuals, individuals with certain chronic health conditions and adults 65 years of age and older are at a higher risk of serious flu complications.

Preventing the flu helps save lives and preserve healthcare resources. As community health leaders, all Sentara team members and medical staff are required to receive the Influenza vaccine annually to better protect and care for the communities we serve.

Sentara RMH Medical Center is at 2010 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg.
