Scherzer (12-11, 2.91 ERA) gave up five hits in eight innings of work, striking out six and walking none.
Matt den Dekker hit his third homer of the season, a solo shot in the sixth.
Brad Hand (4-8, 5.32 ERA) took the loss for the Marlins, giving up three runs on five hits in three and a third innings.
