SCC considers revised plan to build solar generating facility in Fauquier County

virginiaThe State Corporation Commission will hold a public hearing in October regarding a revised application by Dominion Virginia Power to build and operate a 20 megawatt utility-scale solar electric generating facility near Remington in Fauquier County.

In the application, DVP states the solar facility would be constructed on 125 acres of land owned by the company across from the company’s existing natural gas-fired Remington Power Station. DVP also states that, under its revised plan, the project will not impact Virginia customers through cost of service, base and fuel rates, or rate adjustment clauses during a 25-year term.

If approved, DVP expects the proposed project to begin generating electricity in October 2017.

The public hearing will be held on October 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Commission’s second floor courtroom located in the Tyler Building at 1300 East Main Street in downtown Richmond. Any person wishing to comment at the hearing should arrive early and sign in with the SCC bailiff. The audio portion of this hearing will be webcast via the SCC website. Webcast information can be found on the SCC website at www.scc.virginia.gov/case.

Written comments on the company’s proposal must be submitted by October 6, 2016. All correspondence should be sent to the Clerk of the State Corporation Commission, Document Control Center, P.O. Box 2118, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2118, and refer to case number PUE-2016-00048.
