Route 637 (Octonia Road) in Greene County will close to through traffic on April 29 while a crew with the Virginia Department of Transportation replaces a large pipe that carries water underneath the roadway. The existing pipe, which is 8 ½ feet in diameter, is in poor condition and will be replaced with a new steel pipe.

The road will reopen to traffic on May 10. During the closure, drivers should use Route 621 (South River Road) and Route 230 (Madison Road) as an alternate route around the work zone. Private entrances on both sides of the project will remain open during the closure.

Drivers should check www.511virginia.org or VDOT’s 511 mobile app for current information about traffic conditions and follow @VaDOTCULP on Twitter for updates.
