Hoops Roundup: VCU wins at Duquesne, High Point holds off Longwood

VCU got 21 points from Terrence Hill Jr. and a double-double from Lazar Djokovic in a 93-80 win at Duquesne on Saturday.

The Rams (11-4, 2-0 A-10, NET: 55) shot 53.7 percent from the floor and were 11-of-25 from three.

Duquesne (9-6, 1-1 A-10, NET: 152) went on a 19-8 run to cut the VCU lead to one, at 54-53, with 13:33 remaining.

Hill and Ahmad Nowell drove the lane for back-to-back buckets to launch a 9-0 run that got the margin back to double-digits, and the Rams would lead by as many as 15 late.

Tarence Guinyard led all scorers with 22 points for Duquesne.

High Point holds off Longwood


longwoodHigh Point, the preseason favorite in the Big South, got 29 points from Terry Anderson to pull away late for an 80-67 win over Longwood on Saturday.

High Point (14-3, 2-0 Big South, NET: 89) took control with an early second-half 9-0 run that broke a 46-46 tie.

Emanuel Richards led Longwood (9-8, 1-1 Big South, NET: 298) with 16 points.
