Augusta Health is excited to announce that Rockingham Family Physicians in Harrisonburg will join Augusta Medical Group on September 1, 2024.

The new addition will mark Augusta Health’s second location in Harrisonburg and reflects Augusta Health’s ongoing efforts to expand access to high-quality healthcare services while upholding the exceptional standard of care and service that patients have come to expect.

Primary Care plays a crucial role in the healthcare system as primary care providers are often the first point of contact for many patients seeking healthcare services.

Rockingham Family Physicians, a highly respected provider practice and Daily News-Record Readers’ Choice Award Winner for 2024 Best of the Valley for Primary Care Practices, is known for its unwavering commitment to patient care.

“Augusta Health and Rockingham Family Physicians have a shared core value to provide the highest caliber care to the communities we serve, and this shared value is the foundation for our partnership,” said Kris Doan, FACHE, President of Augusta Medical Group. “With the addition of Rockingham Family Physicians into Augusta Medical Group, we will enhance our capacity to provide comprehensive medical solutions and compassionate care to a larger patient base in the Harrisonburg area. We are excited to work with the talented team at Rockingham Family Physicians and are enthusiastic about integrating their practice into our existing network.”

Primary Care providers address various health issues, from acute conditions to chronic diseases, and provide initial diagnosis and treatment.

“This integration brings exciting opportunities for the Harrisonburg community, offering expanded healthcare resources through a robust, interconnected network,” said Rockingham Family Physician Dr. Stephen Godshall. “We’re confident that this partnership will benefit both Augusta Health and Rockingham Family Physicians, as well as the greater Harrisonburg community.”

The medical practice will continue operating at 1751 Erickson Avenue, Harrisonburg. Current patients can expect to receive care from Drs. Kerry Leichty, Stephen Godshall and John Witman.

Augusta Medical Group has increased its primary care services by opening offices in Buena Vista, Harrisonburg and Maury River. Additionally, the Neighborhood Clinics are now in 14 locations. The continued expansion ensures that healthcare services are accessible to everyone, irrespective of geographic location, income level or social status.
