A 17-year-old teen was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday in Rockingham County.

Gadge M. Crawford, 17, of Timberville, was ejected from his vehicle. He died at the scene.

The crash occurred July 28 at 1:35 a.m. on Route 259 (Mayland Road), a tenth of a mile east of Route 946 (Zirkle Lane), according to a report from Virginia State Police.

Crawford’s Honda Accord was traveling west on Route 259 at a high rate of speed when it crossed a double solid yellow center line, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment and a fence before overturning.

The crash remains under investigation.
