Robert Hurt names Denise Van Valkenburg district director

robert hurtCongressman Robert Hurt released the following statement announcing that Denise Van Valkenburg will serve as District Director, succeeding Linda Hutson Green, who has accepted an opportunity to serve as Director of Economic Development at the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance:

“Over the past five and a half years, Linda Green has worked tirelessly for the people of the Fifth District of Virginia with a constant focus on constituent service and the promotion of job creation in our communities.  With her extensive experience and her steadfast commitment to our region, I know she will be a wonderful addition as the new Director of Economic Development for the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance.  It has been an honor to have Linda as an integral part of our team, and I thank her for her service and congratulate her on the new position. 

“I am pleased to announce that our current Director of Constituent Services, Denise Van Valkenburg, will now serve as our District Director for the remainder of my time in Congress.  Denise is a dedicated public servant who has helped thousands of Fifth District Virginians in their dealings with the federal government over the last five and a half years.  She shares my commitment to faithfully serving each of our constituents, and we are pleased that she will continue to do so in this new role.”

Denise Van Valkenburg is a Pittsylvania County native and has served as Director of Constituent Services for the Fifth District since Congressman Hurt’s election in 2010.  Van Valkenburg began her public service as a legislative aide in the Virginia House of Delegates to then Delegate Hurt in 2002 and a legislative aide in the Senate of Virginia for then Senator Hurt in 2008.  She currently resides in Danville with her husband and two children.
