Richmond Comedians return to Gateway Theatre

AFP

radioWTA’s Gateway has arranged for the return of The Richmond Comedians on Saturday, January 26. In celebration of their return the cover charge will be $5 instead of the usual $10.  The performance will be emceed by Michal Ketner with Corey Marshall and David Wingfield.  The performance begins at 8 pm at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.

Comedian Michal Ketner will emcee The Richmond Comedians.  Michal has won numerous contests at the Richmond Funny Bone and hosted and/or performed on shows with notable comedians Dan Cummins, Erin Jackson, Lynne Koplitz, Godfrey, Seaton Smith, and  Guy Torry to name a few.  Critics say, “Forget everything you thought you knew about female comedians, Black comedians, or, for that matter, comedians in general. Michal Ketner is about finding and delivering the funny, wherever it might be and wherever it might take her.”  She will use her considerable talents to keep the performance on track.

Corey “The Syllogist” Marshall (AKA: MadMan Marshall) is noted for his tactful delivery ranging from social issues, faith, family, his special education and odd observations. Combining his urbane nature and explosive animation, Corey is sure to illustrate exactly why he’s quickly becoming a favorite among crowds and comedians alike.

David C. Wingfield was born to be a comedian. He believes that the funniest stuff happens in everyday life, and he can’t wait to tell you about it.  Intelligent without being pompous, and down-to-earth without being lowbrow, David is talking about things you know, but with a unique perspective that makes it all his own. David has been fortunate enough to work with some of the most recognizable names in comedy, including Michael Winslow (Police Academy), Charlie Murphy (Chappelle’s Show), and Dave Attell (Insomniac). David has also written jokes for several comics such as SNL alum Victoria Jackson, and worked on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” as the audience warm-up comedian. Besides performing on The Richmond Comedians, Wingfield produces WTA’s Gateway second season of comedy.

The cover charge for The Richmond Comedians is $5 and can be paid at the door.  For more information call 540-943-9999.
