Richmond basketball¹s Alonzo Nelson-Ododa to transfer

ur-spiders1The University of Richmond has granted forward Alonzo Nelson-Ododa a release to transfer, head coach Chris Mooney announced today.

“We wish all of the best to Alonzo as he moves on and completes his final year of collegiate eligibility,” Mooney said.

This past season, Nelson-Ododa averaged 6.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He led the team and ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10 in blocks with 45, despite missing eight games with an eye injury. He was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Defensive team this past fall.

He ranks second all-time in Richmond history with 185 career blocks. For his career, he averaged 5.5 points per game and 4.8 rebounds, playing in 94 contests and starting in 69.

Nelson-Ododa will be eligible to play immediately as a fifth-year graduate transfer.
