Pro wrestling fundraiser to benefit Luray, Page high schools

Chris Graham

superstarsA pro wrestling show on Saturday, March 22, at Luray High School will be a fundraiser for the senior classes at Luray High School and Page County High School.

The card for Night of the Superstars features WWE superstars Hurricane Shane Helms and Kid Kash, TNA superstar Christian York, ECW Original CW Anderson and NWA legends The Barbarian and Ricky Morton of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express.

A special feature on the show is Short Sleeve Sampson from Hulk Hogan’s Micro Championship Wrestling making an appearance on his It’s Midget Time Farewell Tour.

The show is being promoted by Luray native Chris Marston, the editor of PageCountyDotNet and the former editor of the Luray-Page Free Press. Marston has more than 15 years of experience in local event promotion, including a stint with Awesome Wrestling Entertainment, a sister company of Top Rope Pro Wrestling and Augusta Free Press.

Assisting Marston behind the scenes is Doug Ward, the president of Rawhide Productions and the founder of Awesome Wrestling Entertainment and a partner in Top Rope Pro Wrestling.

“I am happy to partner with some great folks who have more experience running events on the scale that Night of the Superstars expects to be,” said Marston, who is making his debut as a solo promoter with Night of the Superstars.

“I am extremely proud and excited to be making my pro wrestling promoter debut in front of my hometown, in my alma mater and for the wonderful young adults that look to graduate this spring,” Marston said.

The show will begin with a one-hour meet and greet sponsored by Keith’s Auto Sales in Penn Laird beginning at 6 p.m. The wrestling begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $25 for ringside. For general admission tickets, call Luray High School at 540/743-3800 or Page County High School at 540/652-8712.
