redskins_scriptrWashington coach Jay Gruden talks with reporters on Friday. Washington (1-5) hosts Tennessee (2-4) in NFL action on Sunday at 1 p.m.

On the injury report:

“Ryan Clark was limited today – he is questionable. Akeem Jordan and Tracy Porter are both out… Trent [Williams] was full today… David Amerson was full today – he is questionable. Limited was Robert Griffin – he is out. Limited was Perry Riley – he is questionable. Full was [Brian] Orakpo, Trenton Robinson and Darrel Young – all three of those are probable.”

On what cornerback David Amerson has to do to be ready for Sunday:

“That’s up to the trainers and the doctors with the concussion protocol. Obviously we take the concussions very seriously. We want to see him run around out there, make sure there are no repercussions whatsoever and make sure he gets fully cleared. Everything is on a positive track for him to play but I just want to make sure he has got everything right about him.”

On if there is anything to update regarding quarterback Robert Griffin III’s status:

“No, nothing really to update. He is just doing what he is doing. He took a few more reps today in the team periods, handing off and things of that nature and just slowly but surely getting back into the flow. His progress will be up to the trainers and the doctors moving forward.”

On what Griffin III did in team drills:

“He did a couple scout team plays, just handing off – getting out of there.”

On if wide receiver Leonard Hankerson or defensive end Stephen Bowen will play on Sunday:

“That is a good question. We are not sure yet… Obviously, both of them look pretty good. I think Bowen is probably a little bit more ready if he were to go. Hankerson, probably we just need to see him a little bit more and make sure – because this is the first time he has practiced with me, with our new system. So we just want to make sure he has everything down before he goes – probably another week or two, maybe.”

On the progress of nose tackle Barry Cofield, Jr.:

“He is making good progress. Everything I have heard from Larry [Hess] in the training room is he is doing a good job and coming along at a good pace. We anticipate when he is eligible to come off he will be ready to go.”

On the Titans’ defense:

“What stands out about their defense? Well, they’ve got good players obviously. They have got a good scheme. I know Coach [Ray] Horton. I’ve gone against him when he was at Cleveland last couple years obviously. They do a lot of good things defensively. [Jurrell] Casey is a load up there in the middle. [Derrick] Morgan is a good pass rusher. They’ve got a good pass rush. In the back end [Jason] McCourty is playing very well. They just have got a good all-around team defense. They mix up their coverages. They’re not overly complicated, but they do a good job playing their defense and playing very sound football. So, it’ll be a good challenge as every week is.”

On preparing for multiple quarterbacks:

“You’ll have a little bit different game plan for each one. [Jake] Locker obviously has more movement skills. He’s a very good runner – very fast, very physical, not afraid to lower his shoulder and run people over. You have to be a little bit more aware of him in the running as far as scrambling. There might be some calls you don’t call against Locker that you would maybe, possibly call against [Charlie] Whitehurst. So, we’ll keep a close eye on it obviously. We won’t know until an hour before the game who’s playing, but it will have some effect on the calls that the defense makes – very minimal, but some.”

On if linebacker Will Compton has practiced with the first-team defense this week:

“Yes. Perry [Riley] has been limited. Will’s taken all the reps with the first team.”

On the reason for practicing indoors:

“Yeah, the field doesn’t hold water too well. Too wet.”
