Pomegranate local food series continues with Mindful Eating

foodPomegranate Restaurant and Gathering Place in Troutville continues its Meet & Learn series featuring conversations with local health professionals and farmers on May 31, 2014 at 4pm at its restaurant at 106 Stoney Battery Road.

“Mindful Eating” will be facilitated by Annemarie Carroll and will cover topics encompassing the health advantages of eating with intention and attention, best practices for choosing satisfying and nourishing foods, and the benefits of a locally-grown diet. The event will also provide an opportunity to meet a local farmer and include a special menu of local foods in addition to the regular menu starting at 5pm.

About Annemarie Carroll: A licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher, Annemarie integrates traditional psychotherapy techniques with gentle yoga postures, mindfulness training, breathing techniques and meditation strategies to help clients with issues including: depression, anxiety, panic disorder, PTSD/trauma, addictions, chronic pain, infertility, insomnia, grief and loss, life transitions and wellness. Her classes emphasize mood regulation, balancing the nervous system and restoration of general wellness.

About the Meet & Learn Series: Known for its locally-sourced menu and casual dining atmosphere, Pomegranate provides a valuable and entertaining community service with the “Meet & Learn” series. The events are held in their beautifully refurbished building that previously housed a feed store and wine warehouse. “The Art & Science of Eating Good Food” is the brainchild of Pomegranate owner Diana Dixon, a familiar Botetourt educator with a passion for creating a casual gathering place that brings healthy local food and community together in a relaxing and nourishing way. In addition to its regular hours Tuesday-Saturday, 4pm (wine bar) and 5pm (dining room), Pomegranate is available for special and private events such as receptions, parties and business meetings.
