“Politics Matters,” hosted by Jan Paynter, which began airing on Charlottesville Public Access Television, will now be available on PBS WVPT. The program will be broadcast on the last Sunday of every month at 11:30 a.m.  The next episode will air on Sunday, Aug. 26.

“We’re very excited to be able to bring our program to a larger audience in both the Charlottesville and Shenandoah Valley areas. ‘Politics Matters’ is actively seeking additional venues so that we may continue our in depth exploration of the issues that face our nation at every level of government. Local community participation in the democratic process has never been more important. ‘Politics Matters’ will continue its focus on individuals with an outstanding commitment to principled politics and we’re delighted to partner with WVPT in the pursuit of this goal'” said Paynter.

This month’s “Politics Matters” concludes the program’s series on Immigration with Part II of an interview with Professor Douglas Ford of the UVA School of Law. The focus will be on the specific issues confronting immigrants to the Virginia community of Charlottesville. Douglas Ford is Lecturer, General Faculty and Director of the Immigration Law Clinic at the Law School as well as coordinator of the Legal Aid Pro Bono Immigration Project at the Law school’s Mortimer Caplin Public Service Center. Professor Ford has worked as a policy analyst for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants in Washington, D.C., having also served as senior research associate and deputy director of Bosnia Projects with Physicians for Human Rights.

The program can also be viewed online at www.politicsmatters.org.
