The Waynesboro Police Foundation has awarded its first scholarship to a local student.
The award was announced in a recent ceremony held at the Waynesboro Police Department. Ryan Cale of Fishersville successfully competed against other students in an essay contest to win the $1,000 scholarship.
Cale, who graduated from Wilson Memorial High School this year, will be attending Roanoke College this fall, where he will major in business.
