Four Philadelphia pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout to complete a three-game sweep of Washington with a 3-0 win on Thursday.
Aaron Nola and Tanner Roark traded zeroes for seven innings, each giving up two hits before being lifted in the eighth.
The Nats (14-7) loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth, but Bryce Harper struck out on three pitches by lefty reliever Elvis Araujo (1-0, 2.45 ERA).
The Phillies (12-10) loaded the bases with nobody out off Nationals reliever Felipe Rivero (0-1, 3.86 ERA). Closer Jonathan Papelbon relieved and struck out Darin Ruf, and got to an 0-2 count on Cameron Rupp, and just missed with a slider on the 0-2. Rupp took another slider off the plate before getting a 2-2 fastball that he went the other way with to right for a two-run double.
David Lough followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0.
Ryan Zimmerman led off the bottom of the ninth with a single, and Daniel Murphy followed with a long fly ball to right that just missed being a two-run homer before being caught against the wall by outfielder Peter Boujos.
Jayson Werth hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end it.
