Perriello appointed to Veterans’ Affairs

Fifth District Congressman Tom Perriello has another committee assignment – to the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
The committee has jurisdiction over veterans’ benefits, pensions, the VA hospital system and issues involved in the readjustment of service veterans to civilian life.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to improve the lives of veterans in our district and across the nation by serving on this important committee,” said Perriello, a Democrat in his first year in Congress after being elected in November.

“Veterans in Southside Virginia have an urgent need for expanded access to services, and that’s what I’ll fight for on this committee. The brave men and women who put their lives on the lines for our democracy deserve nothing less than the best care, and I am honored to serve them in this capacity,” Perriello said.
