O’s blast White Sox in series opener

baltimore oriolesManny Machado hit a grand slam as Baltimore powered to a 10-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

The O’s (13-8) also got homers from Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo among their 15 hits on the night.

UVA alum Tyler Wilson started, but didn’t get the win after being lifted with two outs in the fifth.

Wilson gave up two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one

Mychal Givens (2-0, 2.38 ERA) vultured the win with an inning and a third of scoreless relief.

John Danks (0-4, 7.25 ERA) took the loss for the Sox (16-7), giving up six runs on nine hits in five-plus innings.
