Manny Machado broke a 6-6 tie with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 13th to lift the Baltimore Orioles to an 8-6 win over the Oakland A’s on Friday night.
Machado’s homer, his 25th of the season, was the third long ball of the night for the O’s (58-56).
Baltimore seemed poised to get the win in nine after a tie-breaking two-run homer in the seventh by Chris Davis, his 32nd, gave the Orioles a 6-4 lead, but Oakland punched-and-judied Zach Britton in the ninth, getting two infield hits and then tying the game on a two-out, two-strike RBI single by Danny Valencia.
Ubaldo Jimenez got a no-decision in a pedestrian start, going five innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, striking out six and walking two.
Adam Jones also homered for Baltimore, his 20th of the season, in a 3-for-5 night at the plate.
