An 82-year-old Gordonsville man is dead following an accident on Route 33 in Orange County.

Arthur Stern died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police, who is investigating the two-vehicle fatal crash.

According to VSP, the crash occurred Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. on Spotswood Trail near Route 645.

Stern was traveling in his truck east on Route 33 when he crossed a double solid yellow centerline and collided head on with a westbound tractor trailer. The impact caused the tractor trailer to run off the roadway.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 51-year-old male from Orleans, Ontario, was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
