ODU football tabs Arick Forrest as wide receivers coach

odu logoOld Dominion University football coach Bobby Wilder has hired Arick Forrest as wide receivers coach.

“We are excited to add Coach Forrest as a full-time member of our coaching staff. He has done a tremendous job the past three seasons working with our receivers and special teams,” Wilder said.  “He is a hard worker that I am confident will develop into an outstanding recruiter for our program.”

A native of Dublin, Ohio, Forrest was a graduate assistant for the Monarchs the previous three seasons working primarily with the quarterbacks in 2012, and the wide receivers the last two seasons.  He wasresponsible for breaking down film, opponent personnel and scouting reports.

“I am honored to be a part of the Old Dominion football family. I have been fortunate the past three years to have Coach Wilder and the rest of the coaching staff develop me as a coach which led to this opportunity,” Forrest said. “I wake up every day with an excitement to mentor young men and recruit potential student-athletes for this program.”

Prior to joining ODU, Forrest worked as a student coach at Ohio State for four years.  He worked with the quarterbacks and had daily responsibilities working on scouting reports, breaking down film and playbook handouts.

While with the Buckeyes, Forrest was a part of three Big Ten Championships and went to four bowl games, including the Sugar, Rose and Fiesta Bowls.

Forrest replaces Zohn Burden who was named the wide receivers coach at Virginia Tech.
