Noted poets headline poetry reading at Bridgewater College

Two renowned poets are the feature attractions in a reading of new works in a poetry reading at Bridgewater College on Monday, Nov. 11.

bridgewaterThe reading by Jenna Butler and Sara Robinson will be held at 7 p.m. in the Boitnott Room in Rebecca Hall. Refreshments and a book signing will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Butler is an Alberta, Canada-based poet, editor, teacher and publisher. Her work has appeared in literary magazines, journals and anthologies across Canada, and her poetry has received the Canadian Authors Association Exporting Alberta Award. Butler’s work has been short-listed for the Bridport Prize and the International Salt Prizes (UK).

She is the editor of more than 30 collections of poetry in Canada and England and is the founding editor of Rubicon Press.

Robinson, a poetry writer-editor for Southern Waters Magazine and Virginia Literary Journal, lives in Charlottesville, Va. Her books include “A Cruise in Rare Waters” and “Two Little Girls in a Wading Pool,” which has been nominated in the poetry category for the 16th Annual Library of Virginia Library Awards.

She is a teacher in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Virginia and writes a column on poetry for Southern Writers Magazine.

The poetry reading is sponsored by the English department at Bridgewater College and the Alpha Sigma Phi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.
