Norfolk man charged with second-degree murder in overnight shooting

Norfolk Police have made an arrest following an overnight shooting on Core Avenue that left another man dead.

Officers responded at 1:20 a.m. Saturday to the 1800 block of Core Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The man, later identified as Bradley K. Kortbawi, 44, of Norfolk, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of their investigation, detectives charged Vandes Jackson, 56, of Norfolk, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.

Jackson was taken into custody at the scene and is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
