Breaking news – Barack Obama selects Tim Kaine to be …

Sorry. Just testing the emergency broadcast system. If this had been actual breaking news, I wouldn’t know what the hell to do, considering how long this nonstory has been dragging on.

The news today is more of the same. The Washington Post and Politico.com are both reporting that members of Kaine’s senior staff met this morning with Barack Obama at the Omni Hotel in Richmond. The meeting was private, so the only thing we know about what transpired comes from Kaine’s press secretary, Gordon Hickey, who told the Post that Obama had his picture taken with the group, and that was about it. “We weren’t involved in anything else. We just stood there, had our picture taken and we left … (Obama) came walking in, we stood there, had our pictures and he left.”

Politico’s report added the detail that Kaine told a pool reporter covering the brief visit that Obama “visited with my staff just to basically say hi to them and thank them for all their hard work.”

(This all feels so paparazzi-ish, doesn’t it?)

Now back to whatever else you were doing this afternoon, already in progress.
