Nine-run sixth helps Turks romp past Waynesboro

Third baseman Jake Roberts (St. Joseph’s) capped a nine-run sixth inning with a grand slam and centerfielder Ryan Lee (Fordham) went 4-for-6 with two RBIs to power Harrisonburg (3-1) to a 13-2 win over visiting Waynesboro (1-2) in Valley League Baseball at Veterans Memorial Park Tuesday.

Righthander Dillon Ortman (Auburn) worked six innings to pick up his first decision of the season.  He scattered seven hits, fanned six and walked two while yielding two runs.  Lefthander John McLeod (Wake Forest) tossed three scoreless frames to earn a save, giving up three hits and striking out three.

Western Carolina lefthander Adam Curtis (0-1) took the loss for Waynesboro. Centerfielder Julian Ridings (Western Carolina) went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles for the Generals.
