Natural Bridge Park & Historic Hotel to host Earth & Arbor Day Celebration

natural bridgeVirginia’s Natural Bridge Park & Historic Hotel is set to host its first Earth and Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 26. The property has been fully reopened for just over a month and has seen renewed success under its new ownership through the Virginia Conservation Legacy Fund.

The Earth and Arbor Day Celebration will feature many family-friendly and environmentally-oriented activities beginning at 9am and continuing until 9pm with the showing of “Drama of Creation”.  Activities include various tours and free programs, dogwood tree planting, Virginia and local food-sourced lunch and dinner menu offerings, live music, crafters and growers market, public E-waste collection, and children’s art activities. Visitors who bring a canned food donation will receive a 50% discount off admission to the Caverns and the Natural Bridge Park for the day.

The Natural Bridge Park & Historic Hotel is under the ownership of the Virginia Conservation Legacy Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of conservation, education and outdoor recreation. The Park & Hotel are addressing these goals through the development of new hiking trails, implementing a property-wide recycling program, enriching SOL-compliant educational programs, and partnering with area businesses. Local farmers and Artisans will be featured in the Earth & Arbor Day Celebration along with Twin Rivers Canoe Outfitters and the Stonebridge Equestrian Center.

 

Activities at Earth & Arbor Day Celebration

Birding & Wildlife Tours. 6am & 8am, meeting in Hotel Lobby.   Advanced reservations are required, $5 per person.

Local crafters, artisans on display and farmers market

Truly Local Over 20 vendors and Artisans on site from 11am until 3 pm in the Rockbridge Center parking lot:

Jewelry, Native American Crafts, Apple Butter, Beeswax, Eggs, Pie fillings, Wood turners, Tack consignment

½ price activities tickets to Bridge and Caverns with canned good or donation for Rockbridge Area Relief Association

Interpretative Programs at the Monacan Indian Living History Exhibit

Wildflower Walk, a guided tour to observe native Virginia wildflowers

Children’s Art Activities (greenhouse bottle demo, jewelry making)

 

Live music at the Cedar Creek Café & Patio Lunch featuring locally sourced items from noon to 4pm

 

Public Electronic Waste Collection 9am-1pm, assisted by Scott Recycling, Pulaski Va at the Rockbridge Center Office

 

Dogwood tree purchase and planting ($5 suggested donation), planting at Stonewall Cottages & along Cedar Creek Trail

 

Virginia Style Dinner Buffet with LIVE acoustic guitar music in the Colonial Dining Room
