National Weather Service issues Winter Storm Watch for Shenandoah Valley

The Shenandoah Valley is under a Winter Storm Watch that is in effect Sunday into Monday morning, with 2-4 inches of snow, sleet and ice possible from an approaching winter storm.

snow011708picThe storm is expected to hit the Valley Sunday morning, starting with snow and sleet before changing over to freezing rain by the late morning. With temperatures expected to rise above freezing in the overnight hours, the forecast calls for the precipitation to turn over to all rain by Monday morning.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s to near 30 most of the day Sunday before creeping above freezing in the overnight hours.
