David Mullins has been tapped to serve as president and general manager of the Harrisonburg-based public-television station.
He will replace interim general manager Richard Parker. Parker has served in that capacity at WVPT since taking over for former WVPT president and CEO Bert Schmidt this past summer.
Mullins is currently the vice president of marketing at WPBT in Miami. He has been at the station since 1988.
“WVPT is a great organization. I am excited and honored to work with such a dedicated staff and board,” Mullins said. “Together our goal will be to provide a variety of unique services to educate, enlighten, entertain and inform residents throughout the Shenandoah Valley, Central Virginia and the D.C. areas.
“We will engage the communities we serve and encourage the sharing of ideas, opinions and information as an electronic town square,” Mullins said.
