More tea in the harbor

I don’t guess I’m going to be frequenting the ol’ Chick-fil-A anymore.
“Our Chick-fil-A family is excited to take part in this local event, and we look forward to offering our customers a free iced tea on Tax Day,” said Jody Wetherill, area marketing director for Chick-fil-A of Richmond, in a press release sent to us here at the AFP Friday afternoon to tout the Richmond Tax Day Tea Party.

For those like me who don’t follow the nonsense on right-wing radio and are wondering what in the sam hill this Tax Day Tea Party is, it’s something the wingnuts have organized to protest high taxes and spending in Washington.

Seems to me appropriate that they’re doing this at a Chick-fil-A. Wasn’t it the first President Herbert Hoover who swept his way to victory and the keys to the White House promising a “chicken in every pot”?

I can’t tell if it’s something chain-wide or not, but I can say that the release was sent to me by an Atlanta-based PR firm, and Chick-fil-A is based in Atlanta.

Whatever this is ultimately, I have to say that I hope the Chick-fil-A folks in Richmond and wherever else they decide to do this enjoy their little tea party. And I hope progressives agree with me that we can get our fill of processed chicken products somewhere’e else.
