Missing inmate apprehended in Washington, D.C.

batra1151723The search for an inmate who escaped a work detail in the Weyers Cave area was suspended shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday (June 19, 2013).

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, Karan Batra 44, was located in Washington, D.C., and taken into custody without incident at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Virginia State Police, Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia Department of Corrections spent the day conducting extensive ground searches and following up on numerous tips of possible sightings.
