Head football coach Latrell Scott has announced that University of Miami TE Andrew Tallman has signed a grant-in-aid and will enroll at the University of Richmond for the Fall 2011 semester. Tallman is immediately eligible with four years to play for the Spiders.

Tallman (pronounced “tall-man”) a native of Carthage, N.Y., who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 260 pounds, redshirted as a true freshman this past season for the Hurricanes.

“We are very excited to welcome Andrew to the Spiders,” said Scott. “Not only will he be a great addition to the offensive side for Coach Lineburg and his staff, but Andrew comes from a great family and fits what the University of Richmond is looking for in a student-athlete.”

Tallman was a three-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 5 prospect at his position in New York State by Rivals.com. He was also a three-star prospect and No. 56 recruit at his position nationally by Scout.com.

Tallman joins a tight end group at Richmond that also includes junior Kevin Finney, sophomore Sam Roller and freshmen Hunter Westfall and Christian Conklin.
