bridgewater eaglesAn early second-half goal proved to be the difference Saturday as Randolph-Macon slipped past Bridgewater 1-0 in ODAC men’s soccer action.

After a scoreless first half, the Yellow Jackets got on the board in the 50th minute. The hosts were awarded a corner kick with Logan McHugh taking the corner. The ball came loose inside the six and Paul Duffy was there to punch a shot into the back of the net for what proved to be the winning goal.

Bridgewater struggled to generate offensive opportunities as the Yellow Jackets held an 18-3 edge in shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Jake Spiegel had the Eagles’ lone shot on goal.

Bridgewater keeper Mark Davis finished the contest with seven saves while Brian Breslin recorded one save and earned the shutout for the Yellow Jackets.

Bridgewater, now 4-2-2 overal and 0-1 in conference play, returns to action Wednesday evening when the Eagles travel to Danville, Va., for a non-conference contest with Averett University.
