Hallman Jr. is investigating the crash that occurred at11:45 a.m. on Route 15, less than a half mile south of Route 655.

A 2013 Ford Focus was traveling north on Route 15 when it slowed to a stop to make a left turn into a private drive. The driver of the Ford, Chris R. Neagle, 51, of Mechanicsville, died at the scene. His wife, Cynthia Neagle, 51, was transported to UVA Hospital in Charlottesville for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Donald W. Sly, 49, of Iowa, was not injured in the crash. Sly was charged with reckless driving. The tractor-trailer was empty at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation at this time. The Virginia State Police Motor Carrier Safety Team and Accident Reconstruction Team also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Route 15 was re-opened to traffic by 4:25 p.m. Saturday.
