Democratic gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe built on his already substantial money advantage over Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the most recent reporting period for statewide candidates.
McAuliffe raised more than $6.2 million in September and began the month with $1.85 million cash on hand.
“Heading into the final days of the election Virginians continue to provide Terry McAuliffe’s campaign with overwhelming support, helping him to communicate his message of mainstream solutions to grow and diversify the economy,” said McAuliffe spokesperson Josh Schwerin. “Virginians are continuing to support Terry’s mainstream focus as Ken Cuccinelli struggles to explain his extreme agenda and refusal to denounce Ted Cruz and his use of the government shutdown as a bargaining chip.”
The Cuccinelli for Governor Campaign raised $3.4 million in September with over $1 million cash on hand as of Oct 1.
“With three weeks to go in the campaign, Ken Cuccinelli continues to build grassroots support as more and more Virginians learn that he is the only serious candidate who has a plan to create 58,000 jobs and ensure that all of Virginia’s children have the opportunity to obtain a quality education. Today’s finance report shows that we have the resources necessary to defeat an opponent who is famous for one thing: raising money,” said Anna Nix, the Cuccinelli campaign press secretary.
