MASN to broadcast George Mason basketball for the 11th season

george masonMASN will return this season to produce George Mason Patriots men’s basketball games for the 11th consecutive season. The official cable partner will broadcast three games, including two Atlantic 10 Conference contests in February.

The regional sports network will begin coverage with the Patriots game against longtime rival James Madison on Saturday, November 26 at 6 p.m. The historic rivalry with the Dukes was renewed last season when Mason travelled to Harrisonburg for the first meeting since the Patriots were in the CAA. The Dukes hold a five-game edge (50-45) in the longest all-time series for both teams.

MASN will air two of the Patriots Atlantic 10 home games, bringing the number of conference games on television up to 11 games. The broadcast schedule includes the La Salle Explorers who will travel to Fairfax on Saturday, Feb. 4 and a weekday tilt with the Richmond Spiders Tuesday, Feb. 14, both 7 p.m. tips from EagleBank Arena.

The Patriots will be featured on national television nine times this season during conference play, with games on CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network and American Sports Network (ASN). Mason will open A-10 play in front of a nationally televised audience on CBS Sports Network against in-state rival and defending co-conference champ VCU at 8 p.m. on Dec. 30 at EagleBank Arena. They Patriots will also play home games on national TV against Saint Louis (Jan. 14, NBCSN), NIT champ George Washington (Jan. 25, ASN), Fordham (Feb. 11, ASN) and Rhode Island (Feb. 18, NBCSN).

On the road, their matchups at co-regular season champ St. Bonaventure (Jan. 7, NBCSN), conference tournament champ Saint Joseph’s (Jan. 10, ASN), Richmond (Jan. 22, ASN) and Davidson (Feb. 8, ASN).

All 13 games of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh will be nationally televised. ASN will air the opening round games on March 8. NBCSN will carry the second round and the quarterfinals, March 9-10. CBS Sports Network will air the semifinal games on March 11. CBS Sports will broadcast the final on network television for the eighth straight year as part of the network’s annual Selection Sunday coverage.
