Masked man charged with public masturbation: Waynesboro

Chris Graham

Boyce, LeonardWaynesboro Police charged a city man for publicly masturbating near a church clad only in a ski mask and a shirt on Saturday. Leonard Boyce, 51, faces two charges from Saturday morning’s unusual incident.

At approximately 10 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Bookerdale Road after complaints from individuals at the church next store about a masked man doing “perverted stuff.”  When the officers arrived, the assailant jumped into a window of a ground floor apartment and shut it behind him.  Officers then went to the apartment door and tried to get the individual to answer.

When Boyce answered the door, wearing more clothes than before, the officers attempted to detain him.  However, Boyce refused to be detained and tried to walk away.  The officers then grabbed him by the arm, but he slipped out of the officers’ fingers because of a slick substance on his hands and arms.  Officers finally got a hold on him and were able to handcuff Boyce.

Officers searched Boyce’s apartment and found marijuana, which he acknowledged he had just smoked, and other items of interest.  Boyce is charged with a felony, Wearing a Mask in Public to Conceal one’s Identity, and a misdemeanor, Performing an Obscene Sexual Display.

Boyce is free on a personal recognizance bond.
