Madison County: Pedestrian struck on Route 29 has life-threatening injuries

A 21-year-old Culpeper man has life-threatening injuries after he was truck on U.S. 29 on Saturday in Madison County.

The crash occurred at 7:44 p.m. near the intersection of Route 9731, or Mountaineer Lane.

A 31-year-old woman from Culpeper was traveling northbound on 29 when the male allegedly ran into the travel lane. She was unable to avoid the collision with the pedestrian, according to Virginia State Police. She immediately stopped and remained on scene.

The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to UVA Health for treatment.

The woman driver was not injured. There were two passengers in the vehicle but neither were injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
