Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert: May 11-15

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic controls and flaggers in use during construction. Use caution and expect delays. Completion – April 21, 2017.

Route 643 over Horsley Creek and Route 635 connection – Thru 10/15/15, bridge replacement and approach work.  Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

Various locations – Plant mix schedule underway. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 605 over Stonewall Creek – Road closed May 4-15 for timber deck replacement. Detour: Rt. 605 to 667 to 611 to 721 and back to 605.

Various locations – Plant mix schedule underway. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 622– Crews will work surfaces.

Route 631 (20 – 700) – Road closure in effect with detour using Route 700. Est. comp. 9/18/15.

Route 723 over Rock Island Creek – Road will be closed 4/20-5/15 for superstructure replacement. Detour will use Rt. 655 to 602 to 727 and to 678.

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will make drainage repairs on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 643 over Falling River – Through 7/22/16, bridge replacement and approach work.

Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

Route 663 over Button Creek – Road will be closed 3/16-5/22/15 for structure replacement. Detour via: Routes 651, 24 and 615.

Route 1501 over Branch of Dreaming Creek – Road closed 5/4-5/22/15 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 739 and 682 to and from Route1501.

Various locations – Plant mix schedule underway. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 675 over Cub Creek (Rt. 40 – Poor House Rd) – Road closed; temporary signal for bridge replacement. Est. comp. 9/28/15.

Phenix – Crews will cut brush, clean ditch lines and add shoulder stone.

Various – Surface treatment operations continue. Flaggers will assist in work zones.

Various secondary routes–Crews will work surfaces, boom axe and respond to customers.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 620 (Amelia/Cumberland Co. line) – Closed 2/23-8/02/15 for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 621, 13, 654 and 600.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, cut brush, clean pipe and respond to customers.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 49 over Aaron’s Creek (near Halifax/Mecklenburg line) – Closed thru 6/17/16 for bridge replacement.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, boom axe and respond to customer concerns.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 29 North from Rt 6 to Albemarle Co. line and Rt 29 South from Rt 6 to Rockfish River – Beginning April 6, shoulder widening activities will take place. Lane closures possible. Be alert and use caution.

Route 680 over Branch South Fork Rockfish River – One lane closed during culvert replacement. Stop signs and a Proceed When Clear sign will be in use. Effective 5/11-5/29.

Various locations –Plant mix schedule begins April 23. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.

 

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 29 South over Banister River – Alternating lane closures for joint repairs. Est. comp. early May.

Route 29 Gretna Bypass – Be alert to the presence of manpower and equipment, as well as lane closures during shoulder widening project. Weather and other conditions permitting, the work outside each lane in both the north and southbound directions will be completed by early July.

Routes 58 over 29 and 1140 over 58– Bridge deck epoxy overlays on 5 structures will begin 4/1 and end 6/1, weather permitting. Be alert to traffic controls and expect delays.

Route 603 over stream (Rt. 761-Rt. 668) – Bridge replacement; road closed 4/20-6/12, weather permitting. Detour uses Routes 603, 761 and 668.

Route 676Bridge replacement; road closed through 11/18/15. Detour in place.

Route 726 – Be alert to improvements, including turn lanes for local and school traffic. Signs and other traffic control devices in place. Estimated completion-April 29, 2016.

Brosville, Gretna and Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean roadsides.

Brosville and Kentuck AHQ – Crews will work ditches.

Gretna AHQ – Crews will clean mainline and driveway pipe on secondary routes.

Kentuck and Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will boom axe.

Kentuck AHQ – Crews will repair low shoulders.

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 15 over NS Railway (Briery Road – County Line Road) – There will be a 10’ width restriction during bridge deck repairs. A temporary signal and other traffic controls will be in place.

Route 623 –Bridge replacement over NS and Buckingham Branch Railroads. Est. comp. 6/30/15.

Various routes – Crews will perform surface treatment operations at various locations, weather permitting. Flaggers will assist in work zones.

Various – Crews will make surface and shoulder repairs, cut brush and respond to customer.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance.

Surface treatment – Starting May 1, surface treatment will take place beginning in Campbell Co. and moving north to Appomattox, Amherst and Nelson Counties. Be alert, use caution and expect delays.
